Irregular Pigmentation
Sun exposure, pregnancy and aging can cause the amount of melanin in our skin to decrease. This can lead to irregular pigmentation which generally appears as dark patches on the skin. Another cause of irregular pigmentation is inflammation. If an area of the skin becomes inflamed or red from an insect bite or from acne, a brown area can be left behind as the redness or inflammation subsides.
